Professor Gerd Auffarth is an eye surgeon and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Heidelberg University Eye Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany – one of the oldest and best known eye hospitals in the country. He is also the director of the David J. Apple Centre for Vision Research and the world's first surgeon to implant a toric, an aspheric, and a multifocal intraocular lens. When the demand for intravitreal injections in the eye hospital rose above all previous levels, Professor Gerd Auffarth created a new dedicated centre equipped with a SurgiCube® to perform these essential treatments.
